Breeding the best from the best

Maximillian stud was established 15 years ago with the objective of breeding and producing competition horses of the highest calibre. In this relatively short space of time, youngstock and ridden horses have had a great number of successes with amateur and professional riders a like, many having been purchased through direct recommendation from other delighted clients. The stud enjoys an enviable reputation for extremely high standards of expertise, whether it be producing competition horses or caring for a visiting mare and foal.

Maximillian stud invites you to invest in a slice of their success by using one of their stallions on your mare. Whether you are breeding an upmarket all rounder from you favourite mare, or a budding international super star, your mare deserves to be matched to a well proven stallion. Not sure our reputation is one of the best in the business? Well, who better to speak for us than a cross section of our many regular clients.

Testimonials

" As a long standing showjumping owner I had always admired Saluut when I saw him competing in Holland, so when I decided to breed from my ex international Grade A jumping mare Expo Topec, Saluut was my first choice. Not only has their daughter Red Salutation gone to Grade A, but Expo's much talked about Grade A grandson It's Magic Max, also by Saluut, shows all the potential to be an Olympic contender. Red Mustard, another of my Saluut youngsters, won a hotly contested B&C Blue Chip Pro and looks set to follow in the footsteps of his illustrious relations. When a world class sire like Saluut is right here in Britain, why use anything else? "

Valerie Redbart - Stapleford Manor Stud, Buckinghamshire

" When my daughter Sorcher was out of Young Riders, we decided to put her international jumping mares Ole and Daylight in foal. I chose Maximillian Stud because of the calibre of their and Louise and her staff's obvious dedication, enthusiasm and expertise. In 2003 I used Willesley Equine Clinic in conjunction with Tessa Clarke at West Kington Stud to get my mares in foal with frozen semen. Considering both mares in foal. I cannot recommend Maximillian Stud and their stallions too highly."

Successful Breeding - Luck or Good Judgement?

We believe luck has very little to do with breeding a good horse. The lucky bit is whether your good horse, produced by the right rider develops it's super star qualities. Racehorse breeders would not dream of trying to breed a Group 1 flat race winner from National Hunt bloodlines, so why is it that so many sporthorse breeders in this country do exactly that and rely on fluke to produce their budding super star? Yes, it has to be said that occasionally a super star emerges from parents who showed no such qualities, but that would be an exception rather than the rule.

Stack the odds in your favour

For generations, continental breeders have stacked the odds in their favour by breeding from stock with a proven track records for producing the goods in a chosen field. Athletic, sound performers with a good attitude to work produce similar qualities in their offspring. So stack the odds in your favour and use a stallion bred to do the job, that has performed to a high level himself in that sphere, and if old enough, has a proliferation of talented children. Don't rely on the fluke factor to produce your talented youngster.
